James Horan

James Horan

Born in Dublin in 1980, James Horan studied for one year in Stillorgan College before moving to Cork, where he attended the Crawford College of Art and Design. He graduated in 2003 and since then has exhibited extensively throughout Cork.

He has recently started to exhibit in Dublin and Kildare. To date, he has had two solo exhibitions in Gallery 44 in Cork , one two-man exhibition in the Private Collector Gallery in Cork and has been involved in many group exhibitions, such as the Sculpture in Context Show in the Botanic Gardens, Dublin in September of 2005.

James is a sculptor who works predominantly in marble, aiming to create soft, smooth shapes from a substance usually considered cold and hard. He uses negative space to ensure the sculpture is a part of the environment it inhabits and feels that being able to look directly through the sculpture brings the piece to life.
